November 2-3, 2019 // C3LA presents BREATH + BODY
The Contemporary Choral Collective of Los Angeles (C3LA) presents their first concert series of the 2019-2020 season, BREATH + BODY, a unique showcase of new choral works created in collaboration with choreographers from Iris Company, a Los Angeles organization dedicated to creating socially relevant, thought-provoking, and moving experiences through dance. 

May 24-25, 2019 // C3LA presents Tasting Notes
A one-of-a-kind concert collaboration with local LA chefs Pete Agraan and Joey Firoben that will feature amuse-bouches (small bites) paired with original compositions by C3LA composers, as well as songs about nourishment, scarcity, and where our food is sourced.

Continuing the worldwide musical celebration of Lou Harrison’s centennial, this diverse program presents a rare opportunity to hear a survey of works by the ebullient composer known for his fearless blending of Eastern and Western sounds. Los Angeles-based gamelan Kyai Doro Dasih, directed by renowned composer Pak Djoko Walujo, is joined on stage by guest musicians Chrysanthe Tan (violin), Erika Duke-Kirkpatrick (cello), Ulrich Krieger (saxophone) and Andrew McIntosh (violin) to bring Harrison’s Javanese gamelan pieces to life.

BOUQUET invites the audience into a full sensory buffet, welcomes them to join a wild ritual of letting go, fills them with nostalgia and memory, and lures them in to witness two male bodies finding commonality in femininity. The four distinct pieces utilize the quirky Basic Flowers venue in unique ways, giving the audience the freedom to walk around and witness the performance from different angles.

Join C3LA, VoiceScienceWorks, and See-A-Dot Music Publishing, for a four-day workshop that includes two days of intensive focus on how the voice works and how to translate that knowledge into compositional tools, and two days with C3LA having your music workshopped by a professional ensemble and participating in the uniqueness of the choral collective model. The events are ticketed separately, so to attend the entire four days, you will need to purchase two separate tickets.
